On the four Sundays leading up to Christmas, Moviemento will be screening films about queer people at Christmas.
Kicking things off on December 1st is Sean Baker's TANGERINE. In the drama entirely shot on iPhones, trans sex worker Sin-Dee tries to track down her unfaithful boyfriend on Christmas Eve.
On December 8th, there is a short film programme entitles "Coming Home". Coming home for christmas can be stressful, particularly if you have to return to being a person you no longer are during the rest of the year. On the other hand, sometimes people who completely overlooked each other up to now can suddenly decide to huddle together for the holidays to form a new home.
On December 15th, the historical drama CAROL by Todd Haynes tells the story of two very different women in the 1950s who over the course of a roadtrip become more than friends.
The theme for the short film programme on December 22nd is "Staying Strong". Keeping it together over the holidays with all the possible sources of stress and discombulation is not always easy. Sometimes stubbornness goes a long way and sometimes you need a little help and support. Fortunately that, too, can be found.
All films/programmes start at 7pm.
